A Bison's Forgotten Home

A grassy field stretches into the distance.

The eager wind blows through the air,
Dancing through the sagebrush and whipping at my hair,
Sun beating down on the gritty sands,
The smooth handle of a Pulaski on my callused hands,
Prickly pear and juniper trees dot this barren landscape,
To an untrained eye, this place may seem unimportant and bland,
But to us it's so much more, with so much history,
Stories and legends of this land often lead to mystery,
So little time here, but so much to do
Fixing this trail and making this place special, for me and you,
The desert and badlands are a unique sight,
So warm and barren during the day, but so lively with creatures at night
Bison used to roam up and down the hills
For the indigenous people, they did fulfill,
Stolen from the bison and stolen from them,
We recognize the wrongdoings and we do condemn
The cryptographs and rocks remind me of a time long ago
Pronghorn and deer dancing and running across a plateau
A warm spring air, brings the smell of my childhood
Just to be blown away in an instant, if I could capture and save it I would,
The nights spent laughing and joking in the hut
These moments I will cherish, for a long time before my eyes finally shut.
