This week, my crew and I sprayed invasive weeds in the Yellowstone National Park. We learn to identify and target a number of noxious weeds such as Knapweed, Musk Thistle, Bull Thistle, Hoary Alyssum, and Oxeye Daisy. These weeds can be harmful to natural habitats or ecosystems, humans, or livestock.

We used a mixture of Telar and Milestone for herbicide. We sprayed 38 acres of land across the East district of the park over the course of 5 days. My crew and two park staff took a day to emerge into the backcountry and spray around a campsite. It was 6 miles in and 6 miles out. We saw some amazing views and learned a lot about our resilience when faced with hard work.

We are all thankful for this experience to work in such a wonderful place with a very supportive staff. We learned a lot about the land and ourselves, and we couldn’t be prouder of ourselves for these accomplishments.
