Youth Corps

The Youth Corps is an 8-week paid summer opportunity designed for Montana teens (ages 17 - 18) seeking hands-on experience and professional growth.

Crew members will work on real conservation projects, boost their job skills, and build confidence as leaders.

Benefits

Application Process

Ready to apply? We've designed this process to be straightforward, ensuring we gather the necessary information to keep everyone safe and supported in the field. Application Timeline

  • The application will open early February
  • Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until Friday, April 24, 2026
  • Interviews will begin early April and applicants will be notified within 2 weeks of their interview with a decision on their application.

Application Requirements

To ensure your application is processed, please be sure to follow the instructions closely, submit accurate information, and the youth program release that's emailed to the parent/guardian email address after the application has been submitted MUST be signed by a parent/guardian.

Medical Review and Safety Process

Note that a MCC staff member may contact you to follow up on pertinent medical, mental health, and/or medication history before processing the application. A member from the MCC staff team will be in touch with you if this is the case.

    Program Dates: 06/15/2026 - 08/04/2026
    Living Allowance: $1,200 biweekly before taxes are taken out
    AmeriCorps Education Award: $1,565.08 upon completion of the program
    **Montana Residency Required

    Hitches (Projects) are 9 days in length and require camping overnight. Participants must commit to the full summer and all 4 hitches!

    Hitch #1: 6/15 - 6/23
    Hitch #2: 6/29 - 7/07
    Hitch #3: 7/13 - 7/21
    Hitch #4: 7/27 - 8/04

    Monday - Thursday day projects (no overnight camping). Participants must commit to the full summer from 6/15 - 8/06!
