Welcome to the MCC Blog

Cold Turkey

A crew takes a selfie in the rain standing next to an MCC rig.

It begins on an early Tuesday morning. Yawning and sleepy, we make our way to Troy, Montana. Where we will begin our week of surveying trees and our daily haikus:

7/15:
The berries are ripe
We eat as we walk and work
They push us uphill

The huckleberries were ripe, and they fueled us as we had to brave the heat and the continuous bushwhack through tall shrubs.

7/16:
There are many trees
We always feast on kebabs
S'mores make us happy

7/17:
It's so, very hot
Pancakes, were flipped today
Lay me in the Yaak

7/18:
Oh, the sun beats down
Bowling and pizza is yum
Boston beats Tony

We begin each day before the sun is fully up, and then by midday the sun is hot and draining. But, it is always fulfilling when we find the renowned healthy Ponderosa Pine.

7/19:
Missed turns and anger
Goats are always being herds
Tomorrow we spin (again)

7/20:
Where did the trees go?
Crosswords are fun as a group!
Jeez, the gateway goats

Oh, no, the spears go
The ground squirrels are popping up
Oops, there goes Tony

7/21:
The turkey smells rank
I am goat, we are the goats
Vexar we pick up

7/22:
Driving up the hill
We are swimming in the rain
Will we ever dry?
