The Leaders Are Brushing

A crew leader holds a weed whacker, smiling at the camera and making a "rock on" hand sign.

It's so hard to explain our experiences out here,
pack up, leave, return again, each time a little different.
I guess I’m talking about the Selway, beautiful, near;
how we’ve worked, how we’ve laughed how we’ve formed our own current.

Upon arrival: stumbling and bumbling through thorns,
We brushed and dug and brushed some more each day further uphill.
Let’s tell time by the turkeys great call, gobbling like horns,
wading, gaming, feeding the mules; we’ve all had our fill.

Carrying tools and fuels up the ridge line every day
it's simple to see it's the friends we made along the way.
