The Magic of Yellowstone National Park

A view of the bank of the Yellowstone River.

'Twas a magical hitch back in Yellowstone National Park. Sleeping under the abundant stars, waking to the soft coo of mourning doves, and drinking up the mystical views of the park. We were camped out by an incredibly scenic waterfall and traveled between there and the iconic sight of Grand Prismatic Springs for our main work sites. We were tasked with disassembling and reassembling fencing along these spots. We were greeted by excited and friendly tourists along both popular trails. Our long drives between worksites gave ample opportunity to take in the breathtaking sights of the first and most iconic National Park in America.

We traveled between mountain passes greeted by the strong yet whimsical herds of the wild bison who call the park home. We even had the heart-stopping experience of being greeted by a bison while cooking a delicious meal. Luckily the bison was more interested in the grasses surrounding the camp than our crew stir fry. We traveled through the vast expansions of the park, experiencing each micro-climate (snow, rain, sunshine, fog) like hobbits on a great journey. Our crew members were also engulfed into a new world of hobby: fly fishing. Being that it's the most iconic past time in Montana, we were eager to learn. Paul, lead angler, showed us the ropes -or reels one might say. We were able to catch and release some beautiful cutthroat trout along the Yellowstone River by Tower Falls. Overall, our last full hitch was an enchanting experience.
