Hitch number two, the weather was warming up and the snow was finally melted. After a rough bout of weather during our first hitch we were excited to see a forecast of high 70's throughout the week. We started our journey blissfully unaware of the dangers that lurked on the beaten path trail that was our project.
Our first close encounter with the beast started during our first 15-minute break. One of the members on our crew quickly pulled a tick off of the back of their neck. Slightly concerned, but not too worried, we moved on, continuing to work on digging tread and enjoying the company and the weather. When suddenly, another tick was found. They started gaining on us, and that is when we knew we were at war.
The only way we could win this war was to finish our project, we couldn't show any fear or weakness to the beast, this tread was getting built despite their evil little wishes. So, we powered on. Plucking one tick off of ourselves after the other, nothing could stop us. We were the mighty crew, creating beautiful new trails for the safety and enjoyment of the public while simultaneously fighting a silent war.
Though the heebie-jeebies were real, and some days we thought we were losing it, the war was won. Teal crew built beautiful tread along the beaten path trail and, despite the hardships, we slayed.
