Crew five, or "The Saw Crew" has been eagerly awaiting the chance to get their hands on some chainsaws and let it rip. That day finally came, and now the crew has a nice schedule of saw hitches laid out for the remainder of the season.
Saw training kicked off in the classroom with Clint Kingery, MCC's beloved chainsaw expert. The crew learned the ins and outs of tree felling, saw maintenance, and most importantly, safety.
The saw crew then packed up and headed out for Yellowstone National Park, where they met with Keith Krause, the fire management specialist for the park. He pointed them in the direction of fuels reduction work needed in various parts of the park. This provided a perfect setting for Clint and the saw crew to get some certifications done. Each member felled and bucked a few trees for Clint to sign off on their A felling and bucking certifications.
This hitch in Yellowstone gave crew five a lifetime of memories: wildlife, geyser basins, insane tourists, and the most significant of all, a fun and safe saw training. Now the saw crew is fully certified and ready to roll for the rest of the season. A huge thank you to Clint Kingery and Keith Krause.
