Immersion Hitch 1

Two crew members stand next to a charred log across the trail, smiling.

On our first hitch together as the Moose Creek Immersion Crew, we delved straight into the thick of it! Right off the bat, we put the crosscuts (Piglet and Allen) to use and removed tree after tree from the trail. All together, we cleared over two hundred trees from just under three miles of trail, plus we did a hefty amount of brushing and re-treading on top of that.

Wildlife encounters were frequent, and ranged from amusing, in the case of a pair of wrestling ground squirrels, to discomforting, in the case of the caterpillar invasion we inadvertently tracked through the epicenter of. To be sure, each was undeniably enchanting in its own way.

As our crew grows and develops, I can't wait to see just how effective we become. I also look forward to having more indescribable moments in the backcountry and discovering as much about one another as the land upon which we work, travel, and play. Onward and upward, Moose Creek Freaks!
