Field Program

The first hitch of the season brought along four moose sightings, beautiful views, learning how to be pro hacky sackers, and lots of hard work. Hiking and working on some of the trails outside of Jackson, Wyoming, came with plenty of positive public interaction as bikers used our freshly dug and logged out sections of trail. Even as a lead, I got to learn alongside my crew, with the help of our wonderful project partner at Friends of Pathways, on how to construct turnpikes and even a lumber bridge! We got dirty and hot and hiked for miles on end but always managed to keep a positive attitude and make silly jokes to keep spirits high in the heat of the day. Finding moments to dunk our heads in the creek to get through the blistering sun and taking time to drive through and eat pizza in Grand Teton National Park as a crew gave a sense of community. Our first hitch was a pretty epic one as we got to know each other and learn how we want to create a positive crew culture for the rest of the season.
