WRT At The Jack Creek Preserve

This past week, from 6/3 through 6/6, WRT crew #7 embarked on a short hitch based inside the Jack Creek Preserve, a 4500-acre wildlife preserve located in the valley between Ennis, MT, and Big Sky, MT. With just a few days, the crew took on a collection of projects, the main one being clearing blowdown and water bars on the Jack Creek trail #317, the Low Pass Trail #357, and the USFS Trail #316. Under gorgeous views of the Spanish Peaks, Fan Mountain, and Lone Mountain, and the watchful eyes of the resident wildlife (bears, elk, deer, moose, foxes) the crew cleared 6.78 miles of trail and cleaned and repaired 26 water bars, ensuring that the trail remains enjoyable for recreators, and warding off the impact of water erosion.

In addition to the trail work, WRT Crew #7 also took on some projects around the Jack Creek Preserve's facilities. These projects were building a boardwalk over drainage outside the Jack Creek Preserve's Education Center, as well as clearing vegetation from the Preserve's Archery Center. The completion of these projects brings benefits to public land users and local ecosystems, as well as the Jack Creek Preserve's mission to educate and share the passion for conservation with the public.
