A Hundred Dams

Crew members form "100" with their hands

Central divide crew 10 is a stream restoration crew. During hitch five, we built our 100th stream restoration structure of the season! These structures include artificial beaver dams, debris jams, and willow fascines to slow water, catch sediment, and create habitat.

As we build structures, we make songs to keep ourselves entertained. The only fitting way to celebrate our 100th structure is with an original song parody.

Crew 10 “The One Take Wonders” now present…..

A Hundred Dams- to the tune of A Thousand Miles by Vanessa Carlton

Makin our way downstream
Diggin fast, wadin slow,
and we’re dam bound
(Na na na na na na na)
It’s always times like these that we dig more sod and pound posts with our precious double jacks
(Na na na na na na na)
‘Cause we dig this
(Na na na na na na na)
And the land needs this
(Na na na na na na na)
And now we wonder….
If we could raise the aquifer
Do you think droughts would pass us by
Oh ‘cause you know we’ve built a hundred dams
and we’d build a hundred more….
Today!
