Weeds with a View

A weeds crew works on a hill sloping down away from the camera. They are wearing backpack sprayers. In the distance are forested hills and a blue sky.

The Silver Wildland Restoration Crew spent the week in Yellowstone National Park spraying a variety of weeds. Partnered with the National Park Service, the crew started their hitch spraying the Mammoth campground while the North entrance in under construction. Throughout the week the crew was taken to spectacular views throughout bear canyon. Under the guidance of Patrick and his crew we were often reminded of how the weeds in Yellowstone National Park per management were abundant everywhere. Now after years of management most of the areas we visited that had intense weed coverage had little to none at all.

Of course, wildlife played a major role and the crew was able to witness wild bison roam, grizzly bears munch on berries, and elk enjoy the mid-day sun. After work the crew was seen exploring Yellowstone National Park, and meeting up with a fellow MCC Field crew led by Dusty and Serena. Sharing stories of their time at Yellowstone reminded everyone why we all joined MCC. We take the knowledge Patrick and his crew bestowed upon us to Little Big Horn National Battlefield.
