Blackrock Ranger District Continental Divide Trail

This week we had a break from long backcountry log-outs, and we camped frontcountry one mile from our worksite. We worked in a beautiful meadow to build tread on the Continental Divide Trail. On our second day of work, around 4pm, we sighted a grizzly bear with her two cubs low in the meadow. This wildlife adventure was one for the books, as we had to work together to retrieve our tool cache up past the many meadow ravines. After successfully getting our tools back, we had to go on mission #2 to retrieve the chainsaws that were down by the low meadow bridge. After another successful result, with the help of our project partner Jake, we moved worksites to dig tread up trail on the CDT. This is what we worked on for the remainder of the project, and we had a lot of fun along the way!
