Cows in the Camp?

Two crew members stand laughing with each other while one of them digs a hole for a post.

For many years the Caribou-Targhee National Forest has allowed cows to graze among its many acres of forest, plains, and mountains. However, the campground does not appreciate cows rummaging through, leaving behind cowpies and maybe even trampled tents. Thus, the falling apart jack-link fence we removed 3 weeks prior needed to be replaced.

Our crew alongside our project partners Jarred, Erica, Rigo, and Rusty worked hard to put up a new barbed wire fence to prevent the cows from entering the campground. We were truly racing the cows as they were released into the forest the day we arrived. However, with a lot of determination, hard work, and riddles to entertain us we managed to put up a mile of 3-line barbed wire fences with t-posts and stays every 16 feet in 8 full days of work. We surpassed expectations of both ourselves and our project partners. We may have left with some gnarly cuts and bruises but we also left stronger and prouder knowing the campground and all its many visitors will be safe from the cows.
