Cara Plotkin - Field Coordinator

Cara Plotkin - Field Coordinator

Born and raised in the legendary Sleepy Hollow, NY, Cara discovered her passion for working outdoors during a collegiate volunteer trip to the Grand Canyon. After graduating she joined a trail crew with the Northwest Youth Corps, and became hooked. From there she joined an invasive species crew with the Arizona Conservation Corps, and went on to complete an internship in Yellowstone National Park through the Student Conservation Association. Determined to enter the federal workforce, Cara moved to Redding, California to join the trail crew at Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, where she worked various roles in maintenance across three seasons. With a background in horsemanship and some packing experience from her stint in Yellowstone, Cara was always eager to pursue packing opportunities. She secured a dream role as a packer with the Forest Service in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, where she mainly packed for and resupplied California Conservation Corps backcountry crews. This reminded her of how impactful her time was in the corps world, and reignited her desire to share that experience with new conservationists. With a desire to spend more time in Montana and well aware of the reputation of MCC, Cara eagerly joined the corps in the Field Coordinator position, and is excited for the upcoming season. In her off time Cara can be found cozying up with her cat and working on her latest knitting project.
