Lessons Among Age Old Cedars

A view from the ground up towards a canopy of cedar trees.

These past two weeks have been interesting and informative. Very quickly we have all made connections to one another and the land and have experienced a little bit of what the season will entail! The first hitch gave us 3 seasons in 20 minutes and was a great intro to Montana in the spring. Throughout the leadership training I think we all learned some new things about ourselves as well as how we’re going to work this summer. A memorable part of this training so far has been exploring Kootenai Falls as well as Ross Creek Cedars. Being surrounded by the mountains, flowing water, as well as massive cedars was something that set up hopes for the summer outside and sharing it with Montana Youth.

A haiku by Keith:

The timeless cedars

Silently standing, swaying

Do not know their age.
