Morgan Sellars | Piikuni Lands Coordinator

Okii (Hello),
Niistoo Niitaanikoo (my name is) Morgan Sellars. Niitsi Aamskaapii Piikunikowaan (I am a Southern Piegan), an enrolled member of the Blackfeet Nation. I have an AS Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Salish Kootenai College, and in May 2025, I will graduate with an AS Degree in Environmental Science at Blackfeet Community College.
I am ecstatic to be a part of this extraordinary team as the Piikuni Lands Coordinator and eager to see how our own tribal youth can positively impact our ancestral lands and the future of our wilderness. By adding more cultural knowledge and history of ksaahkoom (earth), miistaakiis (mountains), sooyii (water), and iksowá’pomaahkaiksi (animals) throughout traditional Blackfeet territory, we can strengthen the partnership between our Blackfeet scientists and the Montana Conservation Corps.
We live in a very special place between the Great Plains and the Rocky Mountains, and I take great pride in preserving and safeguarding all living beings as well as our sacred environment. With Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and traditional oral stories about how to care for the land, wildlife, and our people, the Blackfeet have long been natural scientists. Both the preservation of our ancestral history and the conservation of our traditional lands are essential to our survival and future.
