Eleanor was born in Australia and raised in Kentucky. Upon graduating with a Biology degree from a small liberal arts school in Eastern Kentucky, she promptly moved her comfortable life to cold and dark Fairbanks, Alaska.  She cherry-picked her way through many seasonal jobs there for the next four years, including selling backcountry gear for REI, ski patrolling for Moose Mountain, living and working inside Denali National Park, and teaching students of all ages about Alaskan Marine Biology for the Alaska Sealife Center. It was at this moment in life when she realized that being outside was a necessary condition for her well-being and happiness. With that in mind, she accepted a Crew Lead position based out of Kalispell and hit the ground running. Following her MCC Leader season she accepted a position on the Chugach National Forest based out of Moose Pass, Alaska, working with Trails and Fire. After three seasons with the Seward Ranger District, she circled back to where the happiness began for her, the Flathead valley. Her favorite things about being in the Flathead are biking the Going to the Sun Road in the spring, face shots skiing off Hwy 2, summer alpine lake dipping, mountain biking (anywhere), and the cowboys.
