John Harrell - Field Coordinator
While pursuing his degree in Environmental Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University, John served in Illinois with the Student Conservation Association. He then decided to move to Massachusetts to again work for the SCA providing Historic Preservation on the Boston Harbor Islands. After living on the East coast for the majority of his life, in 2020 he decided to apply for Montana Conservation Corps as a crew leader and move out west. Having never camped, hiked, swung a tool, or been past the Mississippi River, he packed up his truck and drove across the country. After his first season, John couldn’t get enough of the trail life and decided to come back for one more year as a senior crew leader. After two seasons with MCC, he decided to come back and accept the Field Coordinator Position in 2022. He is excited to be a part of the MCC team for another adventure and can’t wait to see where it takes him. Some of his hobbies include fishing, spikeball, running, and socializing with his friends and the community here in Bozeman.
