Wingless Angels

A crew wearing backpacks and gear, stands smiling before a trailhead.

Two members of our crew (myself included) recently got their chainsaw certification! For a single hitch, we had all 5 members of our crew cutting or swamping in some capacity. We destroyed the Smoky Range Trail, clearing the entire trail in 7 days. But for our next hitch, we were unable to practice our new abilities and were sent into the Jewel Basin Wilderness Area.

Using crosscuts we tirelessly cleared the trail, fighting through constant top bind and under bucking. We cleared the trail of brush and restored it to its former glory. At the end of each day, we jumped into a lake by our campsite and it was nice. Although we all enjoy crosscuts we dearly missed our chainsaws on this top-bind filled hitch.
